The research programmes at DoMS aim to meet two crucial needs of industry and society:
1. Developing exceptional faculty resources in various area of management
2. Moulding professionals capable of leading innovative industrial and developmental activities.
DoMS offers three academic research programmes:
MS (by Research)
MS (by Research) :
The MS (by Research) program is best suited for students who want to kick-start their research career. The program emphasizes the use of logical, analytical, experimental and intuitive thinking skills in pursuit of research. Provision is also available to meritorious candidates to upgrade their registration to the PhD programme
MS (Entrepreneurship) :
The MS (Entrepreneurship) exposes students to challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship and requires them to design, develop, test and prove the techno-commercial viability of products/processes/business models that could eventually be commercialized by them.
IITM offers incubation support to start ups by students through C-TIDES. Some of the start-ups developed by our students are: Scion Biomed Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bodh Bridge Educational Services Pvt. Ltd., Samiksa Sali Integrated Systems Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and ecoLogin.
The department offers research programs in various fields of management such as:

Integrated Management Theories; Methodologies and Practices
Operations and Supply Chain Management
The research wing of the DoMS is one of the largest amongst the Management Institutions in India. We have more than 150 research scholars who work in various research disciplines in Management.The research team in DoMS is also well known for its publications in prestigious International Journals and Conferences. Both students and faculty members attend National and International Conferences. Many scholars have received Best Paper awards at National and International Conferences. Adequate financial support is given to the scholars (for both MS & PhD) by the Institute to attend the Conferences.Doctoral students receive hands on training in using advanced tools and techniques during their research. Students are also actively involved in the Industrial Consultancy Projects taken by the faculty members.
