Veteran Indian Police Service official with over three decades of experience in senior leadership roles in public policy, police science, leadership and management; driving systemic, sustainable solutions towards law enforcement in society nationally and internationally.


Experience
  • Professor of Practice, Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras August 2023 – Present
  • Indian Police Service. Various ranks include: June 1991 – April 2023
  • Director General of Police - Head of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for Tamil Nadu (TN)
    • Investigate and prosecute acts of corruption involving state government officials and advise the Government on various issues relating to corruption and steps to prevent corruption
  • Additional Director General of Police - Head of Administration and Human Resources of Police Department
    • Managed police training institutions
    • Implemented e-office project for improved governance for inter and intra government processes
    • Ensured expeditious redressal of grievance especially pertaining to promotion and posting of officers
  • Additional Director General of Police – Technical Services
    • Designed and established State Police Master Control Room and Cyber Police Stations in TN
    • Converted the present analog TN Police Telecommunication network to Digital
    • Organized training on Cybersecurity for Technical Officers in collaboration with IIT Madras
  • Joint Director and Deputy Inspector General of Police of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
    • Investigated and prosecuted sensitive corruption and financial crimes of national importance
    • Supervised the investigation of cases of sensitive homicide referred by Supreme Court of India

Teaching and Mentoring
  • During the years of service in the Indian Police Service in various leadership positions that I have held, I have been able to share my academic and professional training of Public Administration, Police Science, National Security, Criminology, Law, and Technology with senior police officials of the Indian Police Service and bureaucrats at India's preeminent police training institutions. I have extensive experience in teaching the following areas:

    - Combating Corruption
    - Graduate Student Instructor in Physics Department 2013-2014 for undergraduate course in UC Berkeley
  • Mentored over 12 students from the undergraduate and graduate programs at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and other educational institutes in Chennai, who benefitted as collaborative researchers in publications and gained admission to graduate programs in prestigious US schools
  • Was a Graduate Student Instructor for three semesters Physics 8A in Physics Department, University of California Berkeley, CA during 2013-2014
