Alumni Committee

The mission of the Alumni Committee is to build a strong relationship and facilitate exchanges between the Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, and its alumni. The Committee provides a platform for all stakeholders to share knowledge and support as we unite towards excellence.

Additionally, it also focuses on developing and maintaining networking avenues that further strengthen the high stature of the Department amongst the alumni, and the industry. Through the quarterly newsletter, alumni meet, alumni talks, etc, the Alumni Committee fosters a relationship with its alumni and serves to enrich the studentโ€™s understanding of the business world.

The Linkage

DoMS Interface Committee

Founded on the core values of integrity, reliability, and organizational commitment, the DoMS Interface (DI) committee cements together different facets of the department experience. The committee serves as a linkage between the academy and its tutees, alongside fostering sustainable ties with the institute administration, the b-school circuit, the media, and the larger industry ecosystem.

Besides serving as the cohesive interfacing platform to bridge multilateral voids, the committee is engaged in the facilitation of the interview and subsequent admission processes, on-boarding of the incoming batch, organization of events, and management of the official DoMS social media handles, among other aspects of the campus life.

International Exchange Relations Committee

The International Exchange Relations Committee prepare factsheets for various universities that students may want to go on exchange to. They facilitate the selection and screening process for students interested in foreign exchange programs and ensure smooth functioning of the same.

They are also responsible for widening the contacts base of foreign universities by maintaining good relationships with incoming foreign students.

ICRC โ€“ Industry Connect & Relations Committee

MBA Invitational Lecture Series is an entirely student-driven initiative of the Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, aiming at improving the exposure of candidates to make them industry ready. The key to making management students industry ready is through exposing them to practical aspects of job, key skills required to function in the job and real time cases studies faced by managers at work place.

To achieve this the committee invites leaders from the industry to share their thoughts and experiences with the students, keeping its finger on the pulse of the industry and the classroom, the committee suggests topics to the guest speakers so that these topics are contemporary and relevant, while also taking into account the studentsโ€™ own interests in certain areas. This way, these sessions create a healthy learning environment, where both the speaker and the students actively engage with each other to question, discuss, and learn.

Placement Committee

The placement committee of the department comprises of student representatives from all programs and is led by a placement officer and consulted by faculty advisors. The committee is primarily tasked with the summer internship as well as final placement of the students, while maintaining and nurturing the relationship with regular recruiters. It also ensures that the students are provided thorough guidance to develop their business acumen with multiple workshops and industry connect programs.

These activities are conducted keeping in mind the ultimate objective to empower students to select their desired domain and do justice to their positions of responsibility, while ensuring that the recruiters visiting DoMS shall equally acquire talent suitable to their organisational needs. The committee constantly focuses on its vast alumni network and capitalise on their strengths to increase the departmentโ€™s visibility. Various kinds of opportunities are also provided for the students such as resume-building session, mock interviews with experts, live-projects, and placement concaves dedicatedly working towards better prospects for the students. Placement Committee oversees the outreach program to invite more suitable profiles according to the batch requirements.

Research Platform

SANGAM

Sangam is a platform for research scholars at DoMS, IIT Madras. All scholars are default members of Sangam. It is managed by four or five bearers every year and functions as a nodal group for research scholar issues. Sangam mainly functions as an interface between the student community and the members of faculty.

Key Functions & Activities:

Organizing Events: Festivals, Orientation for freshers, Sangam Night, and Teacher's day. Sangam Night is organized on the next day of institute convocation every year.
Communicating important information from the department management to the scholars.
Keeping track of research scholar activities.

Sports and Cultural Committee

The Sports and Cultural Committee of DoMS, IIT Madras is dedicated to organizing engaging and inclusive sports and cultural events throughout the academic year, aimed at promoting physical well-being, teamwork, and cultural enrichment. As a core part of the DoMS experience, we believe in nurturing creativity, encouraging active participation in sports, and providing a platform for students to showcase their unique talents. Through our initiatives, we strive to create an energetic and supportive community where every student can thrive, connect, and grow beyond the classroom.

WebOps Committee

The WebOps committee ensures a strong presence of DoMS IIT Madras on the web. By broadcasting news, information and happenings of the department on the website, the committee makes sincere efforts to connect to the world.

The committee which is driven by the enthusiasm of a few students with rich knowledge in IT and designing, always tries to deliver value to the department. As communication over the cyberspace is the first preferred touch point, the team dedicates itself wholeheartedly to the virtual community. The various responsibilities include updating, maintaining the website and also uploading details of placements reports, program structure and admission procedure.
