Viswanath Kumar has been with Corporate Research & Innovation at Tata Consultancy Services since 2005, looking at applied research activities, design & development and delivery of large-scale data and decision science engagements across business verticals such as Logistics & Supply Chains, Transportation, Retail, Travel & Hospitality, Manufacturing & Services, Disaster Management, and Human Resources.

  • Member of Board of Studies, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SASTRA University (from 2017 – till date).
  • Special Initiative Award for being part of TATA Innovista Jury Panel in 2022/23.
  • CTO Chartbuster Award (Part of the team) in TCS CTC 2012 in recognition of contribution to business from R&D Unit.
  • Dr Eldin’s Best Paper Award for “Cycle Time Reduction in Batch Processes using Look Ahead Batch Scheduling” in the 33rd International Conference on Computers and Industrial Engineering, Jeju, South Korea (March 2004).
  • Best Paper Award for “Minimizing Completion Time Variance in Single Machine Systems using Tabu Search” presented in Operations Management Conference – 4, IIT Madras (Dec 2000).

Collaborative Initiatives & Activities

  • Part of the core team and one of the Principal Architects in conceptualization, design, and development of KITE (https://www.mykite.in), a Technology Innovation Platform, created by AMTDC-IIT Madras for the enrichment of Manufacturing Innovation, Product Development and Skill Development.
  • Facilitating and driving collaborative initiatives under Co-Innovation Network (TCS COIN), an open innovation ecosystem at Tata Consultancy Services.
