Management Case Study Centre

The Department of Management Studies of IIT Madras has recently set up a “Management Case Study Centre”  to serve the needs of B-Schools with contemporary case studies to enhance the learning of management students.

Long-term Vision

To develop an independent Management Case Study Centre that will serve the needs of B-Schools with contemporary case studies that will enhance the learning of students, across all management disciplines (functional areas); to be a repository of management case studies developed in India as well as in other geographies.

Mission & Objectives

  • To instill a culture of developing case studies focusing on Indian and International companies - enabling academia to relate management concepts to their growth-story
  • To enhance relationships and interaction with the Indian and Global Industry with a view to developing contemporary and contextual case studies
  • To set up a repository for accessible case studies
  • To collaborate with leading B-Schools in India and abroad to develop case studies
  • To collaborate with other International case study centres
Composition of MCSC’s Executive Committee

Based on initial discussions within DoMS, the composition of the Executive committee proposed is as follows:

  • Dr. Pinosh Kumar Hajoary (Integrative/Strategic Management)
  • Dr. Prathamesh Vivek Kittur (Marketing)
  • Dr. Srinivasan S (Human Resource Management/ Organization Behavior)
  • Industry representative: Mr. G Shanker (Madras Consultancy Group)

Types of Cases and Sectoral Focus

Broadly the cases may be grouped as :
   

  • Multi-functional area case studies developed in collaboration with a Company
  • Single functional area case studies developed in collaboration with a Company
  • Case studies and caselets based entirely on published material


The case studies to be developed at the centre will initially focus on companies: Large Indian/Multinational companies, Indian MSME companies, Indian Start-ups
